NWAâ„¢ World’s Mini Championship

Charlotte, NC (September 1, 2009) – Over the years, the National Wrestling Alliance® has sanctioned matches featuring the greatest fighters in pro wrestling, competing for World Championships. Today, the six-decade old governing body is making history by bringing back a World Championship that has been dormant for 50 years, the NWAâ„¢ World’s Mini Championship.

“The Hispanic community has been one of our fastest-growing demographics over the past few years and with the popularity of the Mini’s in Lucha Libre, we’ve decided that a Championship should be created for these smaller athletes. In the past, we’ve had other versions of a ‘Midget’ title, but we believe that this Championship will gain a lot of attention and add additional excitement to our live events and television,” said NWA Executive Director Robert K. Trobich.

The idea of “Mini” title was brought to Trobich by NWA: Pro Wrestling Revolution Promoter Gabriel Ramirez. His promotion has led the way in expanding the NWA’s vision of adding more Lucha Libre entertainment to their events.

“Business had never been better for us here in the Bay Area and Central California, we have been enjoying great houses and sponsorship opportunities with major media outlets in our area’s since going more ‘Lucha’. Blue Demon, Jr. (NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion) is not only a legend, but also a media darling and fan favorite. It is our hope that the ‘Mini’ Worlds Championship will add to the ever building curiosity that we create for our fans, states Ramirez.

A Champion will be crowned on September 20th in Watsonville, CA at the Santa Cruz County Fair grounds in a match featuring two of the world’s best-known “Mini’s” Piratita Morgan and Octagoncito.
